Last night, a new era of astro photography started in my observatory: after improving my equipment step by step in the last few years it finally was time to upgrade my camera.
Beginning of May, we had a period of beautiful weather. Warm and sunny during the day and at night cool and clear skies. Of course, I had to take advantage of that.
Quite some time since we finished the AstroDIY dobsonian telescope, we finally found a school in Berlin that will receive the telescope for astronomical education of ther pupils.
It is the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium and we are happy the this school will make the telescope available to pupils and teachers for their astronomical curriculum. Currently, we are searching for a specific date where we officially can donate the AstroDIY telescope to the school.
Ever since I installed my 4" Focuser on the Starfire, I was also using the Optec FocusLynx for remote focusing. It also offers a temperature compensation feature, but this requires some preparation I never took time to configure.
